It has definitely been a year since I have posted. A lot of happenings in 2012. My daughter graduated from college! My son finished his freshman year of high school and is currently a sophomore--almost half way through his sophomore year at that! I have been quilting, and yes finishing some quilts! I have also started some new quilts! I have not followed too many blogs, but was totally inspired by a blogger friend to pick back up! If you don't follow <a href="http://pokeydotquilting.blogspot.com/">Pokeydotquilting</a>, you have to check out her message this year--I love it! <br />
<br />
While I know I do not have the time to blog everyday, and would only be kidding my friends and myself if I said I would; I will try to blog as often as possible. I have to get used to and learn some of the changes in blogger that have taken place over the course of 2012.<br />
<br />
I thank every friend who has stuck with me, and I hope we have a wonderful journey together this year. I will be adding to this post in the next few days--I do have some pictures! <br />
<br />
Take care and happy quilting! <span style="color: lime; font-family: "Helvetica Neue", Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: large;"><strong>Barb</strong></span></div>

Such great combinations--it really is hard to choose a favorite block....so, let's take a look at Sharon's blocks:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ohs9ab8yY4w/TxdrJtAJ3rI/AAAAAAAABjM/YV0Lk-9-o_8/s1600/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-17-12%2B016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ohs9ab8yY4w/TxdrJtAJ3rI/AAAAAAAABjM/YV0Lk-9-o_8/s400/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-17-12%2B016.JPG" /></a></div>Look how smart and creative Sharon is, she made small crazy patch blocks out of the scraps!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pTLEQxcMMWo/TxdrY50VipI/AAAAAAAABjY/7pzUrapX22I/s1600/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-17-12%2B017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pTLEQxcMMWo/TxdrY50VipI/AAAAAAAABjY/7pzUrapX22I/s400/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-17-12%2B017.JPG" /></a></div>I better show my blocks; some people are asking where they are, like my teacher--I think she is trying to see if I really am working--I am, I am:<br />

First her blocks:<br />

That is Maria beaming on the right--gorgeous, just gorgeous. She told us that she completed this tree skirt in 6 days at a retreat and it was her first Judy Niemeyer! Wow!!!<br />

If you ever have a chance to take a class from Jackie, jump on it--you will learn so much and accomplish even the most difficult quilts with ease! Happy quilting!<br />

It was another excellent class! Jackie once again gave perfect instructions with plenty of demonstration so that we were able to come home and complete what we needed to do. I want to show you some progress made by the other nine ladies--they will all be fantastic quilts; and very different!<br />
Joan's block complete with Units H and KM together--love those colors!<br />

I so loved participating in this event--thank you Madame Samm for all of your organization and hard work; I know that it was no easy feat! The first item is a hot cup sleeve! Love the orange:<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-886w1saTY_w/Twu1hciEtsI/AAAAAAAABfY/qBX6pL-RMEI/s1600/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-886w1saTY_w/Twu1hciEtsI/AAAAAAAABfY/qBX6pL-RMEI/s400/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B004.JPG" /></a></div>With plenty of pockets for your utensils, napkin, etc! Love this pattern:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q_wtiWpqm1M/Twu1r4uHmAI/AAAAAAAABfk/ondr2pzhEWY/s1600/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-q_wtiWpqm1M/Twu1r4uHmAI/AAAAAAAABfk/ondr2pzhEWY/s400/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B005.JPG" /></a></div>The only problem has been everyone wants one now! <br />
Last but not least, one of my favorite quilt patterns (The Big EZ)--makes up a wonderful double/queen size quilt in no time! I love all the Ghastlie fabric, so I incorporated several pieces of various The Ghastlie fabrics into this one:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zdxCN4GIZIU/Twu2NDo4fKI/AAAAAAAABfw/e38ECbUnODA/s1600/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="245" width="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-zdxCN4GIZIU/Twu2NDo4fKI/AAAAAAAABfw/e38ECbUnODA/s400/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B007.JPG" /></a></div>I am not all that pleased with the photographs--will have to do some more during the day light hours--but would that be Ghastlie?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b-e6K-9GicE/Twu2ad7J_kI/AAAAAAAABf8/wqyKWzWgy50/s1600/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B012.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="236" width="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b-e6K-9GicE/Twu2ad7J_kI/AAAAAAAABf8/wqyKWzWgy50/s400/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B012.JPG" /></a></div>One last picture with the lunch tote and cup together:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Salme3DLifI/Twu2iOcEpHI/AAAAAAAABgI/qPDFJwZ9szo/s1600/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B006.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Salme3DLifI/Twu2iOcEpHI/AAAAAAAABgI/qPDFJwZ9szo/s400/The%2BGhastlies%2B2011%2B006.JPG" /></a></div>Now the Ghastlie quilt can fly off to the longarm quilter and the remainder of the fabric can tuck away until later when the urge rises up by the full crisp Fall moon to create some more Ghastlie treasures!<br />
Thank you all for stopping by! Happy quilting!<br />

<br />
Well, I am finally back up and running! Even I had to go back and look at my last post date! That October storm knocked us into November and then December before we had everything fixed. It feels so good to be back with all of my blogging friends--thank you so much for sticking by me and thank you so much for all of your comments I was just able to publish!<br />
<br />
Quick Storm Information:<br />
<br />
This is what we ended up with:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SWZSA-oMXq8/TwpTtK6s-hI/AAAAAAAABfA/VWsNMYI1D5c/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B051.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-SWZSA-oMXq8/TwpTtK6s-hI/AAAAAAAABfA/VWsNMYI1D5c/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B051.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a0WQe1ii7U8/Two8k4dpzPI/AAAAAAAABd4/fWc70-v26Hk/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-a0WQe1ii7U8/Two8k4dpzPI/AAAAAAAABd4/fWc70-v26Hk/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B055.JPG" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qneO12SfSe8/Two8uoAlO4I/AAAAAAAABeE/pMyQ5RrtRwI/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qneO12SfSe8/Two8uoAlO4I/AAAAAAAABeE/pMyQ5RrtRwI/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B054.JPG" /></a></div><br />
You can tell by the snow on our deck, grill and shed that it was one large snowstorm! Then we had no power for seven days. Follow that with no cable and when we finally got cable back only to have the modem go down! We ended up getting a new modem, which had to be sent back, and finally were up and working around Christmas. I was keeping up to date from my iPad, but couldn't post any pictures. Then the holidays were busy, top that with my daughter having all four widom teeth removed on December 22 and you can tell just how busy we have been. We did have storm damage to clean also--trees, mailbox etc. All that is behind us now! As a matter of fact, we haven't had any snow since that storm and it looks like a clear week this week too! That will be fine with me--mid January and no snow and not ba temperatures either!<br />
<br />
On the Quilting front: I want to devote an entire post to The Ghastlies, and Quiltie swapping so they will each have their own day this week.<br />
Today, I am going to post the pictures of my most recent class. I am doing this now because my teacher and two other bloggers have posted today, so I am going to keep with that theme!<br />
<br />
My New Year's resolution was to learn something new each month all year long. I have always wanted to do a Judy Niemeyer pattern and actually have bought a couple. Then I looked at the directions, folded it back up and put it away. That is until Jackie of <a href="http://cvquiltworks.blogspot.com/">Canton Village Quilt Works</a> decided to teach a class and I knew I had to sign up! Jackie is becoming a certified Niemeyer teacher and has visited with Judy Niemeyer as her blog will tell you. Well, I was right--great class, excellent teacher! She broke down the directions, we all were able to make great strides, understand completely and come home and continue on our own successfully! Go to Jackie's blog to see all of the students' progress, here is mine:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hFJ_r6uR0T8/TwpPdYfpn8I/AAAAAAAABeQ/WZ_prftHK88/s1600/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-7-12%2B003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hFJ_r6uR0T8/TwpPdYfpn8I/AAAAAAAABeQ/WZ_prftHK88/s400/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-7-12%2B003.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aaPd26wQnB8/TwpPltuqD6I/AAAAAAAABec/8rTFPXSFiKo/s1600/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-7-12%2B010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aaPd26wQnB8/TwpPltuqD6I/AAAAAAAABec/8rTFPXSFiKo/s400/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-7-12%2B010.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R5CBZI1p7Bc/TwpPskpEAQI/AAAAAAAABeo/RQQRLNp3x1o/s1600/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-7-12%2B017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-R5CBZI1p7Bc/TwpPskpEAQI/AAAAAAAABeo/RQQRLNp3x1o/s400/Judy%2BNeimeyer%2BTotal%2BEclipse%2Bblock%2Bclass%2B1-7-12%2B017.JPG" /></a></div>Now mind you when I left class, I did not even have the first unit complete, but as you can see I now have eight done! Only 40 more units to complete by Saturday--we will see! Do stop over at Jackie's blog to see the rest of the units--they are all gorgeous! I will bring my camera to class next week!<br />
<br />
It is great to be back, take care until tomorrow with warm quilt wishes...<br />

The date says it all.....October 29, 2011.<br />
<br />
Here are the beginning pictures at about 2:00 this afternoon when the storm is beginning to get up a head of steam....<br />
<br />
Here is a picture of the lamp post at the corner of my walk and driveway:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LJF09bCbFl4/TqxsJhmgQaI/AAAAAAAABc8/EY_GzpF3rTw/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B008.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LJF09bCbFl4/TqxsJhmgQaI/AAAAAAAABc8/EY_GzpF3rTw/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B008.JPG" /></a></div><br />
The Rose of Sharon tree near my front steps:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Iy5eTRrUGrQ/Tqxo-EOZnxI/AAAAAAAABbc/MK1MRe_JWX0/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B001.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Iy5eTRrUGrQ/Tqxo-EOZnxI/AAAAAAAABbc/MK1MRe_JWX0/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B001.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Even my corgi is not impressed but she can still get out and about....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X1QnMhWuCJQ/TqxpJ6htRyI/AAAAAAAABbo/Cz5_FfexWtM/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-X1QnMhWuCJQ/TqxpJ6htRyI/AAAAAAAABbo/Cz5_FfexWtM/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B004.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Ok, she is telling me "I have had enough exploring, I remember this stuff from last winter."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sgyKge1YkzQ/TqxpcbtFhZI/AAAAAAAABb0/jWUr0viavNw/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B005.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sgyKge1YkzQ/TqxpcbtFhZI/AAAAAAAABb0/jWUr0viavNw/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B005.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Now, it is 5:00 p.m. and this is how it looks, this is the same Rose of Sharon tree as in the first picture:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--lqG92k10jQ/TqxpqUZqyDI/AAAAAAAABcA/qlvdjpfV9zA/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--lqG92k10jQ/TqxpqUZqyDI/AAAAAAAABcA/qlvdjpfV9zA/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B009.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Look at the lamp post that was in the earlier photo and see the "hat" it is wearing now:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nu_w17cFNsU/Tqxp2CZwW9I/AAAAAAAABcM/tE1jbbOO1cM/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B010.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nu_w17cFNsU/Tqxp2CZwW9I/AAAAAAAABcM/tE1jbbOO1cM/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B010.JPG" /></a></div><br />
My son just measured the snow on the back porch and it is 11" -- yes, that is eleven inches of snow and it is not suppose to end until early morning!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pHLNVp3rpbY/TqxqRhBY-YI/AAAAAAAABcY/k9dQEZ5ZK08/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B015.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pHLNVp3rpbY/TqxqRhBY-YI/AAAAAAAABcY/k9dQEZ5ZK08/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B015.JPG" /></a></div><br />
Oh, my dog wouldn't even get off the front porch to show you how deep it is this time and give you a photo comparison to the early photo with her in it. This time she stood next to me and looked up at me as if to say, "You don't really think I am going down into that--I will only go if you do!" Uh, no way!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dv6DR79GazU/Tqxqv1E3IeI/AAAAAAAABck/G6tnmjtNL4w/s1600/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B017.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="266" width="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Dv6DR79GazU/Tqxqv1E3IeI/AAAAAAAABck/G6tnmjtNL4w/s400/October%2B29%252C%2B2011%2Bsnowstorm%2B017.JPG" /></a></div>I think the roof tells it all--and we are not anywhere near finished! Needless to say, my husband is working--as he is a lineman for Connecticut Light and Power. The wind is picking up and there are already 67,000 outages in our state--I will see him Monday or so...<br />
So back up to the quilt room I go and hope and pray I do not lose power! Stay warm East Coast and New England! Halloween isn't until Monday...<br />
Keep on quilting,<br />

Scroll down a few posts to the giveaway to comment!<br />
<br />
The blog, <a href="http://dawnhaydesigns.blogspot.com/">As Sweet As Cinnamon </a>,recently asked how my blog came to be named "A Corgi To Quilt By." Well, the answer pretty much is how it sounds. Six years ago my children, mostly my daughter, wanted a puppy in the worst way. My husband and I hadn't had a dog since we were growing up--I had a black lab and he grew up with Saint Bernards. I thought about a smaller dog and loved Tasha Tudor's Corgi's, as I have a few of her books! My daughter did a lot of research on corgis and it was all good--they are very intelligent, very loyal, a lot of fun, a big dog mentality in a small package and have relatively few problems. She was also working for a Vet as part of her SAE school work and a corgi breeder came in with puppies to have their tails docked. She fell in love with a small female and before we knew it, she was home with us. She is the love of our lives! She is always with us, very intelligent--performs wonderful tricks, and brings so much into our lives. She loves to sit at my feet. My daughter is now a senior in college and has her own six month old corgi with her. They are great friends and love to play together. Ours loves our cats too! Our indoor cat also loves her! So that is about it--when I was thinking of names for the blog, it was only natural to have something to do with our corgi! <br />
Until tomorrow -- happy quilting!<br />

That's it, easy peasy! I will draw the three winners on Sunday, October 16 so I can get the packages in the mail on Monday and they will arrive by the end of the month depending upon how far they have to travel. I am thinking that my two helpers will help me draw the names! One always has his nose into everything I do:<br />

He thought I didn't see him--lol!<br />

Thank you Purple Pam!What a wonderful package that was waiting for me when I arrived home from school today! First, I read the return address and knew it was from Purple Pam who had a giveaway about a week ago for her followers. I couldn't wait to bring it inside and open it up!<br />
When I did open it, it was even more beautiful than I had seen on her blog! She had even completed six of the blocks--what a bonus to have such a head start--and let me tell you what gorgeous work Purple Pam does; her piecing is exquisite! Take a look:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gc2o2Lw49Qc/TnAX6XsZXyI/AAAAAAAABVo/ZUL_kAIgIcA/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B051.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="166" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Gc2o2Lw49Qc/TnAX6XsZXyI/AAAAAAAABVo/ZUL_kAIgIcA/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B051.JPG" /></a></div>Now take a look at what else was there--the finishing kit and the remainder of the blocks neatly packaged to piece by me (and my trusty helper) Here he is taking a "sneak" peek:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nZcvZLBFp6Q/TnAYLjV5U8I/AAAAAAAABVw/OgI-REUXa34/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B054.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="205" width="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nZcvZLBFp6Q/TnAYLjV5U8I/AAAAAAAABVw/OgI-REUXa34/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B054.JPG" /></a></div>Now we are checking out these blocks from a different view:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U5sBV7T7cf0/TnAYdo_SdGI/AAAAAAAABV4/HNc66jVARFw/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B056.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="300" width="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-U5sBV7T7cf0/TnAYdo_SdGI/AAAAAAAABV4/HNc66jVARFw/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B056.JPG" /></a></div>Actually he is telling me that I don't quite have them lined up right--but his paw will straighten them out for me, see what a helper:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-v2SA7sZXmIo/TnAYqz6t7dI/AAAAAAAABWA/Rk1bnQnGLP8/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="282" width="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-v2SA7sZXmIo/TnAYqz6t7dI/AAAAAAAABWA/Rk1bnQnGLP8/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B055.JPG" /></a></div>It is a wonder I get anything completed without his help--or his best friend's help for that matter:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Jh4MiIHPeYk/TnAZMSNfxKI/AAAAAAAABWI/qYgSQ1z0oSQ/s1600/Chloe%2Band%2BBoo%2BKitty%2B11-2010%2B003.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="240" width="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Jh4MiIHPeYk/TnAZMSNfxKI/AAAAAAAABWI/qYgSQ1z0oSQ/s320/Chloe%2Band%2BBoo%2BKitty%2B11-2010%2B003.JPG" /></a></div>Well, enough of my helpers! Thank you again Purple Pam for such a wonderful, wonderful package! I will be putting something in the mail to you on Thursday just to say thank you again!<br />
For now, stay happy and quilt/sew something! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0lvgk57eCqM/TnAZpF7InFI/AAAAAAAABWQ/3i1Ag1fLRBA/s1600/C9DA9867ABC2E4387A96272447805A41.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="67" width="91" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0lvgk57eCqM/TnAZpF7InFI/AAAAAAAABWQ/3i1Ag1fLRBA/s320/C9DA9867ABC2E4387A96272447805A41.png" /></a></div>Or perhaps I should sign off: <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ojg00ldTQ9E/TnAZ0PrVMlI/AAAAAAAABWY/bT_mmU54I6Y/s1600/NametagBarb.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="81" width="226" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ojg00ldTQ9E/TnAZ0PrVMlI/AAAAAAAABWY/bT_mmU54I6Y/s320/NametagBarb.png" /></a></div>Barbhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16352612038019556637noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4666329067123738044.post-7897836215864540942011-09-11T17:04:00.001-04:002011-09-11T17:06:17.854-04:00We will always remember 9-11<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uZp2_gqK300/Tm0iKfNmu0I/AAAAAAAABVY/K4lzcSOn8XM/s1600/911%2Bimage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="99" width="149" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-uZp2_gqK300/Tm0iKfNmu0I/AAAAAAAABVY/K4lzcSOn8XM/s320/911%2Bimage.jpg" /></a></div><br />

The teachers just went back to school today and the students will come in on Tuesday, Sept. 2., that is a week later than scheduled. That means less time quilting, sewing and blogging--but a little quilting a day is better than none at all!<br />
<br />
I have been doing some type of quilting everyday--and that makes me feel good! I am sewing the binding on my flower quilt (earlier post) and working on my new Halloween quilt:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L7-aBCy8kww/TmAaifFpyzI/AAAAAAAABUg/JIYbyrtWl9I/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B039.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="213" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-L7-aBCy8kww/TmAaifFpyzI/AAAAAAAABUg/JIYbyrtWl9I/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B039.JPG" /></a></div>As well as enjoying the blooms in my garden:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XGXMjfIC_ZQ/TmAas7SseoI/AAAAAAAABUo/uz9-WYZIQSY/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B044.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XGXMjfIC_ZQ/TmAas7SseoI/AAAAAAAABUo/uz9-WYZIQSY/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B044.JPG" /></a></div>and the fading butterfly bush; although it is still very active with various butterflies and bees:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-33hsCBrJDKs/TmAa54x3tOI/AAAAAAAABUw/nPXBxQbyLV0/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B047.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="264" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-33hsCBrJDKs/TmAa54x3tOI/AAAAAAAABUw/nPXBxQbyLV0/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B047.JPG" /></a></div>So, I am still enjoying the very warm afternoons and all that is still blossoming as we move into September and fall. My cat and corgi helpers staying close at hand both in the quilt room and outside for the corgi! <br />
<br />
Until our next visit, keep quilting! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D6pRRkz9F-g/TmAcFPbHzLI/AAAAAAAABU4/7H66fvpdKDg/s1600/C9DA9867ABC2E4387A96272447805A41.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="67" width="91" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-D6pRRkz9F-g/TmAcFPbHzLI/AAAAAAAABU4/7H66fvpdKDg/s320/C9DA9867ABC2E4387A96272447805A41.png" /></a></div><br />

I have to finish getting my binding on my hydrangea quilt so that I can work on that if I can't use the sewing machine! I also am making sure I have some embroidery to do also! I can continue working on my Butterfuly blocks too! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--ISAe85gI9A/TljrpaMlhUI/AAAAAAAABUA/jXOAbF2YBw8/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B011.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="274" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--ISAe85gI9A/TljrpaMlhUI/AAAAAAAABUA/jXOAbF2YBw8/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B011.JPG" /></a></div>I probably won't be working on my Halloween, unless I get a few more things done before any power outage--it will be so nice NOT to have a power outage! I could sit home tomorrow and sew--we are ready to be inside!<br />
Well, as I said, just a quick note--off to get lots of things done so I can work without power if necessary...<br />
<br />
<b>My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone in the path or surroundings of Hurricane Irene!! May everyone be safe and simply have more time to quilt!</b> <br />
<br />
Happy quilting! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cmqlfXSgQyA/TljsV-pBY1I/AAAAAAAABUI/zcAmyrASHFg/s1600/C9DA9867ABC2E4387A96272447805A41.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="67" width="91" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cmqlfXSgQyA/TljsV-pBY1I/AAAAAAAABUI/zcAmyrASHFg/s320/C9DA9867ABC2E4387A96272447805A41.png" /></a></div><br />

I love looking at them and using them in my quilt projects. I have gotten back to embroidery and love the look of little buttons in embroidery also! But cute buttons are not always easy to find, I know I have looked for just the "right" button for a special project and ended up using an "ok" button because a special one was just not found. Well, did I ever run across a fantastic blog and button source!<br />
<br />
The name of the blog is <a href="http://incomparablebuttons.blogspot.com">ButtonMad</a> and they have the cutest handmade and handpainted buttons you ever want to see! Take a look at the adorable buttons available, the picture below is from their site! The best part of this company is that they employ women from South Africa to make these buttons--thus helping two groups at the same time--the individual buying buttons and the women of South Africa!<br />
<br />
They have giveaways too--this was the latest one and yes, I was a very lucky winner of these adorable owl buttons--but that is not why I am sharing this; I want everyone to be able to find adorable handmade buttons to use in your projects! <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hLocMHvGSfQ/TlaOYgCo7DI/AAAAAAAABTo/n483ffzNlo8/s1600/owl%2Bbuttons.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="294" width="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hLocMHvGSfQ/TlaOYgCo7DI/AAAAAAAABTo/n483ffzNlo8/s320/owl%2Bbuttons.jpg" /></a></div>Or, if you prefer, go to <a href="http://incomparablebuttons.blogspot.com/">http://incomparablebuttons.blogspot.com <br />
</a><br />
I know you will be seeing these buttons used in my projects in the future too! So hop over to their blog for information and browse through their wonderful selection--I am sure you will find something that you will fall in love with and use in one of your projects too! I started after I had gone with my daughter to finish up some things for her to go back to college; for her senior year! So getting going about 9:00 p.m. was not what I had originally planned, but anytime sewing is better than no time! <br />
<br />
Let's start with the fabric collection:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jPIrL3Q9uT4/Tk__7T1Xi-I/AAAAAAAABSA/G3uaPA268R8/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B016.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="213" width="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-jPIrL3Q9uT4/Tk__7T1Xi-I/AAAAAAAABSA/G3uaPA268R8/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B016.JPG" /></a></div>You can see that I am working on a Halloween quilt. The name of it is, The Big EZ, by Cottonwood patterns; I absolutely love it for big prints! The Halloween cats are too cute to cut into small pieces! As you can also see, I have a furry "helper" in the far right corner. He will definitely become more obvious as time goes on. I should have entered him in Pets on Quilts!<br />
Next, I have chosen the two fabrics for the four-patch and cut and pieced them all together:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_pDh0dJiuas/TlAAmrHAg-I/AAAAAAAABSI/anDayO3slLg/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B024.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="213" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_pDh0dJiuas/TlAAmrHAg-I/AAAAAAAABSI/anDayO3slLg/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B024.JPG" /></a></div>I also cut all of the strips and corner squares--way too many of them (120 of each).<br />
Now to cut the large 7 1/2" squares of three different fabrics, here comes the helper:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-omXPKRlNXX8/TlABHV91xFI/AAAAAAAABSQ/Q9nMxLt4ge8/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="213" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-omXPKRlNXX8/TlABHV91xFI/AAAAAAAABSQ/Q9nMxLt4ge8/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B027.JPG" /></a></div>I will be continuing this tonight (Saturday) and tomorrow--hopefully being able to show you a finished top in a day or two. This top goes together so easily--look at my previous post with the flower quilt!<br />
While looking at fabrics here are some other pictures of my cat hard at work helping me decide which fabrics should stay and which should go:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ky2Uxk1tFkE/TlABzDYzTrI/AAAAAAAABSY/yH-aJITfz4o/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="213" width="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Ky2Uxk1tFkE/TlABzDYzTrI/AAAAAAAABSY/yH-aJITfz4o/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B019.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AzC_KWAzBvI/TlAB5kbkntI/AAAAAAAABSg/bh1fVGM1Au8/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B023.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="213" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-AzC_KWAzBvI/TlAB5kbkntI/AAAAAAAABSg/bh1fVGM1Au8/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B023.JPG" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-acN25VhILys/TlACBNaQHnI/AAAAAAAABSo/jMEBp1QxtbA/s1600/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B021.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="213" width="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-acN25VhILys/TlACBNaQHnI/AAAAAAAABSo/jMEBp1QxtbA/s320/Quilt%2Bpictures%2Bfor%2BBlog%2B2011%2B021.JPG" /></a></div>It really is amazing I get anything completed with all the "help" I get! Sometimes, he rearranges pieces at night if they haven't been sewn together yet--that is always fun!<br />
Well, I had a fantastic Friday Night Sew--can't wait for next month! I really accomplished alot more than it seems to show!<br />
Sew, Quilt and Enjoy!<br />
