Snow Day and two wonderful Giveaways!

Woohoo--it's a snow day!  It is great now, will not be so in June however!  It looks like we are going to be in for quite a few chances of snow in the next week, let's hope they are not all big storms!  It also looks like we will be having a white Christmas this year--which I do truly love to see.

I discovered a new blogger today and he is having a great giveaway!  Go to his blog to check out a wonderful story and a great barn calendar!  Click here to link to the giveaway and his blog!

If one giveaway is not enough, check out another one at Irish Rose Creations.  A beautiful hand crocheted afghan.

Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting!

Winter Wonderland and a Giveaway!

Well, I have been busy sewing!  I have been making tablerunners that I will use as gifts for my son's teachers mostly.  In the meantime, I will say that winter had begun here!  It started yesterday and by 3:00 p.m. it looked like this:

When I got up this morning, it looked like this:

With my light post looking like this:

So, as you can see, winter has begun!  It is nice to have snow for Christmas and my son was sledding today, but I hope that by January 5 it all melts and temperatures are rising to the 50's at least.  I know, I am living in a dream world; but one can only hope.  I love snow for the holidays, but it gets old very quickly.  Tomorrow I will take pictures of what I have been working on so that you can see that I have been busy!

Also, I want to tell you about a great giveaway at Sew-Fantastic!  Check it out, you will love it!  This is the 12 Days of Christmas giveaway and each day sponsors a new venue!

Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I feel as if I have been away forever!  We had all been sick, then school work was very intense--grades due, program of studies due and budget; all of this on top of teaching a full schedule everyday.  Then DS has boy scouts etc., all things that a 12-year old is involved in, DD is a sophomore in college--but had to come home when she had the flu and pneumonia and DH has his work schedule; and not to be left out, I developed kidney stones that sent me to the ER for an entire Sunday.  Needless to say, I have had very little to no quilting time!  But, I am home now and actually feeling myself relax.  I am going to watch a DVD that came in and maybe get some sewing in; definitely the remainder of the week I will find time to sew!  I am thankful to have everyone back on a healthy track, have everyone home and have some time for sewing and relaxing, for family and friends!  What more could I possibly ask for....so, Happy Thanksgiving to one and all...

Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting and Happy Thanksgiving!

Can you Believe it is November 1?

I am not sure where the year is going--but it is certainly going quickly; already November 1!

Love these two quilts using like flowers.  I took both pictures at The Old Country Store in PA when my family and I went to the Hershey, PA show in July--a great show and a fun time.  I was thrilled when I asked if I could take pictures and they said absolutely!
Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting!

Happy Halloween and a Surprise Visitor

My DS carved the pumpkin--totally on his own--for 12 it is fantastic!  The Corgi was also in the Halloween spirit:

This bear came out of the woods and was looking for our bird feeders, which we had just ran out and brought in......my neighbor called me to alert me that he had just left her house and was coming my way.

Here he is just before coming on the porch looking for that seed!  He is real, not anything in costume!

Have a safe and happy Halloween!  Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting!

A Halloween table mat

A quick post tonight to show you the table mat I quilted tonight to say "thank you" to the teacher whose room we borrowed for Trick or Treat Street.  This was fun to make and I will definitely make another before Saturday!

Very easy to make using a 17 x 17 square for the background, folded in half and half again.  Cut an arc and thus form your background.  Make eyes, nose and mouth to suit and machine applique onto background.  Machine quilt and sew a bias binding--super simple.  Originally, this came from a Party with Patrick monthly class that I attend at Yankee Quilter--great fun.  I changed the pumpkin face from the original to suit me.

Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting!

Quilt Show pictures

I went to a quilt show a little while ago and found a few gorgeous quilts and snapped a couple of pictures.  I will share these tonight:

Son is getting better, hopefully only one more day at home.  Then maybe I can get back to sewing!  Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting!

Son Still Sick

My DS is still sick with the flu.  His temp goes down with the Motrin, up in the afternoon and evening.  He is taking Tamiflu, but it is only the second day.  It has been a long weekend of Trick or Treat Street and an ill child.  My DH has been super wonderful taking care of him while I am doing school things.  Well, no sewing for me today; hopefully no one else will come down with this flu and the week will be kind and easy.  Will leave you with the last pictures from the quilt show:

Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting!

Boy Scout Popcorn

My son is working on earning funds for Jamboree and one of the ways is by selling the most delicious popcorn ever!  It is boy scout popcorn and anyone can help by purchasing either the popcorn or sending a donation to our troops through the boy scouts.  Now how do you purchase this popcorn, I am so glad you asked!  Simply let me know in the comment that you would like to purchase popcorn and I will email the link to his popcorn sales directly to you; you log onto the link and purchase away!  Super simple and such a great item for your family or gift giving!  The popcorn will be sent directly to your home!

In advance, I would like to thank you for your support.

Until tomorrow, Happy Quilting!

Trick or Treat Street was a huge success!

Well, I have survived another year of Trick or Treat Street.  It is an amazing transformation of high school hallway and classrooms into safe trick or treating for 1,500+ children!  The rain did not keep them away!  Here are a few pictures I took before the little kids came through--

Welcome to Peter Pan's Room and Neverland--just amazing!
