Nor'easter Snowstorm on October 29, 2011
I had to take a break from my quilt room, where I am finishing up some of my Ghastlie projects to take pictures of what is going on outside! The date says it all.....October 29, 2011.
Here are the beginning pictures at about 2:00 this afternoon when the storm is beginning to get up a head of steam....
Here is a picture of the lamp post at the corner of my walk and driveway:
The Rose of Sharon tree near my front steps:
Even my corgi is not impressed but she can still get out and about....
Ok, she is telling me "I have had enough exploring, I remember this stuff from last winter."
Now, it is 5:00 p.m. and this is how it looks, this is the same Rose of Sharon tree as in the first picture:
Look at the lamp post that was in the earlier photo and see the "hat" it is wearing now:
My son just measured the snow on the back porch and it is 11" -- yes, that is eleven inches of snow and it is not suppose to end until early morning!
Oh, my dog wouldn't even get off the front porch to show you how deep it is this time and give you a photo comparison to the early photo with her in it. This time she stood next to me and looked up at me as if to say, "You don't really think I am going down into that--I will only go if you do!" Uh, no way!
I think the roof tells it all--and we are not anywhere near finished! Needless to say, my husband is working--as he is a lineman for Connecticut Light and Power. The wind is picking up and there are already 67,000 outages in our state--I will see him Monday or so...
So back up to the quilt room I go and hope and pray I do not lose power! Stay warm East Coast and New England! Halloween isn't until Monday...
Keep on quilting,

Reminder of my Giveaway and How My Blog Got It's Name
Just a reminder that there is still time to enter the drawing for my giveaway--three wonderful gift packages for followers! Scroll down a few posts to the giveaway to comment!
The blog, As Sweet As Cinnamon ,recently asked how my blog came to be named "A Corgi To Quilt By." Well, the answer pretty much is how it sounds. Six years ago my children, mostly my daughter, wanted a puppy in the worst way. My husband and I hadn't had a dog since we were growing up--I had a black lab and he grew up with Saint Bernards. I thought about a smaller dog and loved Tasha Tudor's Corgi's, as I have a few of her books! My daughter did a lot of research on corgis and it was all good--they are very intelligent, very loyal, a lot of fun, a big dog mentality in a small package and have relatively few problems. She was also working for a Vet as part of her SAE school work and a corgi breeder came in with puppies to have their tails docked. She fell in love with a small female and before we knew it, she was home with us. She is the love of our lives! She is always with us, very intelligent--performs wonderful tricks, and brings so much into our lives. She loves to sit at my feet. My daughter is now a senior in college and has her own six month old corgi with her. They are great friends and love to play together. Ours loves our cats too! Our indoor cat also loves her! So that is about it--when I was thinking of names for the blog, it was only natural to have something to do with our corgi!
Until tomorrow -- happy quilting!

Quilt Guild Show and Giveaway
Just a reminder to become a follower on the previous post for the giveaway in progress!
I want to show a few quilts from our guild quilt show that I found to be unique and outstanding! Very talented ladies that is for sure!
Absolutely love this bird--the colors really grabbed me and brought me in!
I love the ocean and everything to do with the ocean! I find it so relaxing! This is a wonderful, original designed quilt made from a personal experience of the quilter on a trip to Florida!
Love the flow of this design! The colors draw your eye in and the subtle shades let you flow through the quilt from top to bottom.
This was made as a commissioned quilt for an residential elderly home to cover the bodies as they leave the building and allow residents to say their final respects. What a beautiful covering.
The final quilt to display tonight:
The fabrics used in this quilt grabbed my eye! The design is one that I love and I love the composition.
Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoyed a very small portion of the show this evening.

Fall Giveaway! Yipee 200+ Followers!
Thank you all for being followers! I love followers! As promised, I have a Fall Giveaway! Not one, not two, but three different options. Let's take a look: (You can always double-click on any of my images to enlarge them)
Option Number 1: This is one of my very favorite Halloween panels ever! I looked long and hard to find this panel and then bought two! I want to pass one on because this is a special time for followers! I am including a very cute AnnaLee Fall Fair doll, a Halloween pattern--can you see I love Fall and Halloween and a cute scarecrow note pad!
Option Number 2: You will find my all time favorite glass and silverware drying towel! I just love this microfiber towel, of course in a great Fall color! Also, there are pieces of my favorite Halloween cats dressed in their Halloween costumes--which I used in my last quilt; take a look at a couple posts earlier! There is also a Birdhouse complete needlecase kit and a wonderful applique Halloween witch pattern!
I know, I know so hard to choose.....well here is the last choice:
Option Number 3: This has a complete kit for a small pumpkin wall quilt. Another microfiber drying towel, two pieces of Halloween fabric, Variations in Chenille quilt book and a boxed variety of adorable Thimbleberries notecards.
So, you can see that I love Fall and Halloween; am tickled to have 200+ followers and hope that you see an Option or two that you love! Now the simple rules: Leave your comments on this post only!
1. Be a follower or join now for one chance; leave a comment telling me you are a follower.
2. For another chance, post about this giveaway on your blog and link back here, leave a second comment telling me you have done so.
3. For a third chance, tell someone new to visit my blog and become a follower and have them tell me you sent them in their comment.
That's it, easy peasy! I will draw the three winners on Sunday, October 16 so I can get the packages in the mail on Monday and they will arrive by the end of the month depending upon how far they have to travel. I am thinking that my two helpers will help me draw the names! One always has his nose into everything I do:
See him in the bottom right hand corner? He thought I didn't see him--lol!
So spread the word and enjoy!

What a wonderful package! Thank you Purple Pam!
What a wonderful package that was waiting for me when I arrived home from school today! First, I read the return address and knew it was from Purple Pam who had a giveaway about a week ago for her followers. I couldn't wait to bring it inside and open it up!
When I did open it, it was even more beautiful than I had seen on her blog! She had even completed six of the blocks--what a bonus to have such a head start--and let me tell you what gorgeous work Purple Pam does; her piecing is exquisite! Take a look:
Now take a look at what else was there--the finishing kit and the remainder of the blocks neatly packaged to piece by me (and my trusty helper) Here he is taking a "sneak" peek:
Now we are checking out these blocks from a different view:
Actually he is telling me that I don't quite have them lined up right--but his paw will straighten them out for me, see what a helper:
It is a wonder I get anything completed without his help--or his best friend's help for that matter:
Well, enough of my helpers! Thank you again Purple Pam for such a wonderful, wonderful package! I will be putting something in the mail to you on Thursday just to say thank you again!
For now, stay happy and quilt/sew something! Or perhaps I should sign off:
